Chaga (Inonotus obliquus) grows in the northern hemisphere, mainly on birch trees. Chaga, “the king of mushrooms” strengthens the body’s own immune system and helps with fighting viruses and bacteria.
Up to 300% increase has been proven in NK cell (Natural Killer cell) activity with Chaga use. Thus, it has been widely studied for inhibiting the growth of tumor cells. Chaga’s special triterpenoid compounds are also anti-HIV, anti-malaria, and prevent virus infections.
Chaga has exceptionally high antioxidant levels: an ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) value of above 100,000 for a good dual-extract. You’d have to eat 30 pounds of carrots to get the equivalent amount as from one dose of Four Sigma’s Chaga! The antioxidants prevent the rusting of our body, protect the DNA and keep the body young. An enzyme called Superoxide dismutase (SOD) is present in Chaga in really high concentrations. SOD works as one of the strongest antioxidants and anti-inflammatory substances in our bodies. Both of these properties also make Chaga a great help for people with arthritis.
